PS Plus Extra users will now lose access to 16 PS5, PS4 titles when the service receives its monthly update instead of the initial 12, as two more games have been added to the Last Chance to Play section on Sony's modern console. The four newly added games are Unpacking, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2, and Planet Coaster.
You have got just under two weeks to play them if they're in your backlog and your access is tied to PS Plus Extra, as the games in question are set to be removed on 17th September 2024. The full list is now as follows:
- 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim
- Alien Isolation
- Cloudpunk
- Dragon Ball XenoVerse 2
- Horizon Forbidden West
- Marvel's Midnight Suns
- NieR Replicant
- Planet Coaster: Console Edition
- Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2
- Spiritfarer
- Star Ocean: First Departure R
- Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness
- Star Ocean: The Divine Force
- Star Ocean: The Last Hope
- Star Ocean: Till the End of Time
- Unpacking

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is probably just about the best of the bunch, though Unpacking has its many fans. Given it takes around 30 hours to beat the former, though, you'll want to get a move on if you want to play it. In our 13 Sentinels PS4 review, we awarded a 9/10 rating and called it a "mind-bending experience". With very high praise for its captivating story and excellent cast of characters, we concluded: "13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is a phenomenal visual novel — and a surprisingly great strategy game. In trying something different, Vanillaware has crafted one of its best games yet. It's got an engrossing story that's absolutely packed with mind-blowing twists and endearing characters, all wrapped up in a gorgeous visual style."
Will you make time for any of these games before they leave? Let us know in the comments below.

Hopefully we get some great games added this month.
I'm confused by the headline wording; are these being added or removed?
@JB_Whiting "Cull" means they are getting removed
Bummer about 13 Sentinels, but oh well. I'm not going to try and sneak it in over the next 2 weeks. I'll just have to buy it on the cheap sometime if I actually get around to it.
Glad I own NieR Replicant already, though.
I own all the games i cared about.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns just got added to the service in March and is already getting removed? That’s too quick of a turnover for such a big game.
And why Horizon Forbidden West? That’s a Sony exclusive property that should be one of the selling points of this service.
13 Sentinels is a beautiful game, definitely give it a go if you've got the time. It's not particularly long by VN standards (the RTS battle half of it doesn't take super long, either).
@RudeAnimat0r honestly put it on easy mode (the combat isn't that interesting) and just focus on the VN. It shouldn't be too long.
@Gaia093 Is it possible to beat it in a few days, in your opinion?
Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is going to be free on the Epic store in a few days, for anyone not able to grab it and play it on PS before it gets removed.
If you want a game you should buy it, never rely on these type of services . That mindset is a partial reason for the slow death of the Xbox console
Damn. There's a couple I didn't get to here. Too many games, not enough time!
@NotTelevision The reason why Sony is removing it is due to the fact that they are trying to avoid the game pass effect. Forbidden west was added just a year after release as an experiment to test the water to see the effectiveness of adding a latest game to the subscription and lo and behold they found out that sales of the game was heavily affected. This is why you will never see a day one Sony game like Game pass did (With the exception of indie games of course like Stray and Tchia and multiplayer games)
Repacking two quick and easy platinums
To everyone, I really hope that gamers give 13 Sentinel a try as that is one of vanillaware best game alongside Odin Sphere. It is also my personal favourite Visual Novel games as well.
@naruball Given enough free time, sure. I got 100% in about five days during the holidays, and according to PSN my total playtime was 47 hours. Just under two weeks left for it to be removed, so I think it's doable.
That playtime can easily be lowered, too. I tend to let all the voice lines play out instead of skipping to the next, I read every piece of text in the glossary and whatnot, and I also played the RTS battles on the hardest settings. All of that adds up to a good bunch of shave-able hours.
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim! ❤️❤️
I was gonna buy it after finishing Unicorn Overlord. This game alone is worth the subscription.
MORE PEOPLE SHOULD PLAY MIDNIGHT SUNS
@LowDefAl If I'm not mistaken it was reported in one Sony report showing that the sales for the game was flatlined after the inclusion and that's where I based my comment on.
I've been subscribed to extra for a while, but recently cancelled. Not because there aren't good games on the service or that it isn't good value for money (for a rental service), but because I realised that the 'stress' of trying to make sure that I played the games I wanted to before they are removed, outweighs the value of any monetary savings I might make. So, personally, in future I will just stick to paying for the games I want - usually on sale - and play them at my own pace.
My daughter is about to be mad about unpacking lol she loves that game
Recommend that everyone plays 13 sentinels before it leaves. Great game.
@Anthony_Daniels some games I'm not sure about, and never buy, but appear on the subscription, so I find i like it enough I'll either play a game i wasn't going to buy anyway or buy the game if i think it's something I'll play again one day, or a physical copy if one exists.
@JB_Whiting it's just a bad title.
Is it my imagination or were the Star Ocean games not on the subscription for very long?
Quite a hole to make in the catalogue's RPG lineup, but incidentally, 13 Sentinels is 75% off on Switch as we speak, and I already have enough Stars points to convert into Star Ocean IaF next time it goes on sale (which I can't even track in the official app as of late after the system cemented my Extra license as having "purchased" the game - I have admittedly found myself wondering how much spaghetti code might it take to at least rephrase the latter part's text🤔😅). From what I've looked up, it's the only SO entry absent on Switch AND inaccessible on Deck (PS3 version, similarly to the original Tales of Graces, never left Japan).
Gamepass rules. My poor ps4, ps5, ps5 slim cry. But! My xbox series x smile like an arrogant! Hahahahaha
I've played like 100 games on PS+ and I still have 1 or 2 games to play almost every month. I don't get why people complain especially since 13 sentinels and SO games were there for a year
Play 13 Sentinels. God tier
13 Sentinels was great, and not TOO hard to finish in two weeks. It took me about that long to platinum.(I take a lot longer to play games than most people do. I have to read all the item descriptions.Probably 1/3 of my time was reading those entries!)
I’ve been playing Marvel’s Midnight Suns, and I’m very impressed. It looks like the complete edition goes on sale for <$20, and I think I’ll be buying that so I can take my time with it. It’s too bad it didn’t sell better. I hadn’t tried it because I’d never played a card-based game and didn’t know if I’d like it.
Not interested in trying to play any of these in the next 2 weeks, trying to finish up Crisis Core before Plucky Squire releases on the 17th, but does Sony really only announce the new Extra games days before they're added to the service? You'd think they'd want to announce what they are adding when they announce what they're taking away to kind of balance things out.
What the actual *****, I am completely fine with games leaving whenever they're leaving, but why can't Sony give us the heads up at least one month before and not just randomly adding games to the list? First the Stars nerf, now this, is this "for the players" Sony?
That’s unfortunate. Alas, such is life with subscription services. I never finished Midnight Suns, so I might have to buy it. I saw it pre-owned for $15, so it’s not the end of the world. Thankfully I kept my copy of Nier Replicant and have picked up HFW. I also own 13 Sentinels (and never finished it either 😅) so I’m covered there.
I really wanted to like 13 Sentinels, but I hated the battle part of the game
I did look into ps store regarding Horizon Forbidden West….the PlayStation plus extra contains 2 versions of this game…the 1st ( PS4 standard edition with + digital upgrade to the PS5 edition), and the 2nd (both the ps4 & ps5 edition).
Only for the 2nd edition the store indicates “offer ends 17/09/2024 9:00….it’s confusing….is that means that the ps4 version stays????
Not Unpacking
@BecauseBecause Yeah - they bombarded us with them
Sony removing first party games from their subscription service is never not hilariously out of touch. They will never learn and xbox is criminally inept to give them a run for their money. Sony is the best when they are beaten and in the gutter, not when they reign supreme.
Ah, well, back to playing the absolutely amazing Midnight Suns on xbsx and Helldivers 2 on ps5.
Planet Coaster ffs 🤦♂️
It definitely feels like there have been more removed than added over the last few months
For goodness sake.
Imagine all of those being added in one month. It would be incredible.
Gonna have to buy Unpacking for the sprogs. Mega uncool for them to announce it's going at the same time as ending the two-week sale they've had on it.
Glad I finished 13 Sentinels last month. It's very overrated imo but still pretty enjoyable.
